Larry happens to be a good friend of mine. He is an actor in the Tampa bay area and has several plays, commercials, films, under his belt. I can't wait for the day when I get to say "I knew him when..."

Larry had originally asked me to redesign his site a few years ago. Someone had helped him set up the site and I came in and changed a few of the graphics around and gave him a new photo and video page. I recently started over with his site from scratch (that's right, an empty notepad file) and put together what we have today. Not only does it have a nice design and photo/video feature, but it also has a back-end where Larry can easily update every page on his site.

When Larry makes it big, I expect him to retain me as his web designer and have some of his actor friends (maybe Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, Steve Carrell...) hire me to do their sites for them as well. It's only fair!

If you're looking for some laughs in the Central Florida area, this place should be your destination. This is the only Improv Comedy Troupe in their area that i know of. They're hilarious!

This site is fairly simple and incorporates a few animation effects that I created using mootools, a popular JavaScript library. The site features Cast bios, Google Map, Calendar (imported from a Yahoo calendar that they already had), and contact form.

We are still adding to the site little by little. Be on the lookout for a new page regarding Improv Comedy classes. They are just about as fun as their performances!

Cotton Music

It's naturally fitting that my first client for Open Mic Web Design be me. After all, who best knows the needs of myself besides me?

Anyway, this is my freelance pianist/vocalist site. People in the region just go to my site, fill out a quote request form (there are three of them), press the button and I immediately get an email with all of the info they filled out. I call them back, get a booking, play a party, yada, yada, yada.....

They can also view a master song list of the songs in my repertoire (over 3000 now) or view a list of Wedding music. Both lists feature an alphabetical list which collapse or expand when you click on a letter. I basically created a text file that lists all of the songs that I have available, then wrote a web script that took those songs, counted them, alphabetized them, then layed them out.

The design is simply a picture of me. Get this, I took this picture in my master bedroom. The dark portion behind me is a navy blue blanket hanging on the curtain rod over my window. I'm actually leaning on microphone stand with an off-white bed sheet draped over it. Since the lighting in my room wasn't great, I took one of those halogen floor lamps and leaned it so that the top was facing me from the side. I also added a small reading lamp to shine up on the wall to reduce the shadows. No-frills, but it made for a okay shot. Trust me, it's hard to get a good shot when you look like me!

Karasoul

Again, the focus is on me! HA!! Actually, not just me, but the band I used to play in. Karasoul formed in 2005. They were a trio back then, and they still are today (but with a few changes along the way).

This is a site that I put together using an extremely popular Content Management System called Joomla. I installed most of the features that I mentioned on the features page. The band manages their mailing list, mp3s, videos, photos, gig calendar, and news all through an online administration screen. To learn more about Joomla, click here. This is the type of site I specialize in!

We are currently in the middle of redesigning the site, so stay tuned for an updated image!
